14th August Celebrations 2015
14th August 2015 was celebrated with great zeal at The City School on Friday,14th August 2015.
The Flag raising ceremony was conducted in school during the morning assembly.
The youngest
girl of the school raised the flag.
The program started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran
followed by a national song. Then teachers and students participated in singing of national songs.Our younger companions were full of great
enthusiasm. In the end, the Head
Mistress asked teachers and students to assemble round the field to take part in school sports.
Speeches were made by students. All speakers threw light
on the importance of the day and our duties towards the country .

School Elections (Head Boy / Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy / Deputy Head Girl)
(2015-2016)
Purpose:
The Head Boy and Head Girl are the ambassadors of the school.
They are elected through transparent elections and exist in order to represent the student body of the school.
The Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl are also
elected, and take on the day-to-day management of prefects , as well as looking after the school and creating a link between
teachers and pupils.

- Participation in School/Year Council meetings. Taking positions of leadership.
- Participation in school development work .
- Maintaining a visible presence around the school and play a role in maintaining good order
6th September Celebrations 2015
6th September is commemorated each year in our country as Defence Day. It is a day which marks Pakistan’s victory over the enemy and pays tribute to our martyrs. The day was celebrated with enthusiasm and dignity at The City School, RYK and students joined in for a wonderful, patriotic assembly presentation. Starting with a march past to the rhythm of drums, students toured the ground to reach the stage, holding the national flag with pride. National songs were sung with fervour and some students and teachers delivered inspiring speeches. We salute our heroes and the sacrifices they made for us to be able to live in peace and honour.
Red Colour Day
Red was the colour worn by the Pre Juniors 4th September and what a splash of bright red it was!!! It was endearing to
see our youngest students all decked up in Red outfits. Activities done on this day included painting
objects red, collage work with red paper and identifying red fruits and
vegetables. Teachers and students both
had a fun filled RED DAY.
Grandparents Day
(Pre-Juniors)
On 15th
September 2015, grandparents of pre-Juniors paid a visit to the school. It was
delightful to watch the little ones’ excitement at having their favourite
adults in their class. Students made colorful cards and sang songs for their
grandparents .It was indeed a pleasurable experience.
Oath Taking Ceremony
On 17th September 2015, The City School RYK had their gowning and oath taking ceremony for new student council.Parents of council members were invited to come and put the sashes and gowns on their children.It was indeed a proud moment for both parents and children.
Yellow Colour Day (PG-Year 2)
Children from PG till Class 2 came dressed
in all shades of Yellow on their Yellow Colour Day. Dressed like the sun or ducks or autumn
leaves or even egg yolks....all children looked absolutely adorable in the
activity geared to endorse the colour yellow.
What’s even more interesting is that even the teachers were dressed in
bright yellows!
Breakfast With Moms (PG-Year 2)
Breakfast is the most important meal of the
day. A healthy breakfast ensures a
productive and robust day. In order to
promote a healthy breakfast eating habit, TCS Rahim Yar Khan organised a
“Breakfast With Moms” where mothers were served breakfast prepared and presented
by their children. It was fun and a
source of pride for mothers to see their little ones serve and wait on
them. We are hoping children will learn
from this activity and come to school with a full, healthy meal every morning.
Eid Milan Party
An Eid Milan Party was held in school to
mark the importance of Eid ul Azha and also as a respite from studies. After enjoying mouth-watering foodstuff in
their class rooms, students gathered in the school ground for fascinating stage
performances. It was a delight to watch everyone
dressed in their colourful Eid clothes indulging in lots of fun and amusement.
Inter House Language and Art Week (Years
2-11)
A whole week was devoted to promoting prose
and poetry writing and to creating beautiful art work. All students got a chance to participate and
the award winning entries have been put up for display in the school. This was an inter-house competition geared
towards promoting writing skills and creativity. The categories were: Urdu and English Essay
Writing, Urdu and English Poetry Writing and Art competition.
Library Week
Promoting and encouraging good reading
habits have been topmost on the school’s agenda from the beginning of the
school year. DEAR (Drop Everything And
Read) was introduced in August this year and currently we are enjoying lots of
pleasurable reading fun at the library.
Different levels have been engaging in reading activities which include:
Reading is fun for Everyone, Quiz Competition, Book Talk, Book Review and
making a Library News Letter. A visit to
the library was never so enjoyable as it is now.
Health & Hygiene (Girls of Years
6-11)
Senior girls held a 45 minute workshop with
girls from classes 6-9 regarding health, hygiene and grooming. Key points addressed were healthy dietary
habits, cleanliness, body posture and stress management. The senior girls got a chance to coach their
younger friends and guide them like older sisters. It was a very productive workshop and the
girls of Year 10 did the school proud with their resourcefulness and
ingenuity. Well done senior girls!!

Blue Day Celebration
Blue Day was celebrated at The City School Rahim Yar Khan Branch on 6 November 2015. It was a fun-filled day for the students and their teachers.The properties, qualities, effects and interesting facts about blue colour were discussed.
Book Fair
Just like the Language & Arts Week, students from all classes got a chance to participate in an exciting inter house challenge geared specifically towards testing their knowledge about the world. For almost three weeks, students were carefully selected through open class challenges in order to make it to the finals. On the 25th of November, 2015, each class, with teams comprising of 6 contestants participated in the GK Quiz. The competition consisted of two rounds. In the first round, each student was asked 2 questions while in the “Buzzer Round”, students who rang the buzzer quickly got a chance to answer. It was indeed a tough battle among the participants who fought tooth and nail for each mark. Well done to all the teams!
The City School System has always promoted teachers education and improvement. Each month, a whole day is dedicated to teachers training. From Class room management, to Bloom’s Taxonomy to Curriculum Development and correct English usage, all teaching staff is exposed to the unique emerging trends in class room teaching. All sessions are conducted by the HM, Mrs. Ayesha Ejaz as she is a teacher trainer by profession as well. Through these workshops, teachers at the City School have come to learn about innovative and contemporary teaching methods and child psychology and regarding international standards being practiced elsewhere. With each training session, the staff at our school gets better equipped to meet educational challenges with confidence and clarity.
Iqbal Day Celebration
A tribute was paid to Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the
national poet of Pakistan, during the morning assembly presentations on . It featured speeches, skits and tableaus. The
poet’s contributions towards the creation of Pakistan were commemorated in the
speeches made by students.
A Health and Hygiene Week was celebrated on 20-11-15 to create an awareness among the
students to keep themselves neat and clean with regular haircut, trimmed nails,
clean teeth, polished shoes and lice-free hair. There is a regular surprise
check for health and hygiene every week.
A prominent dentist along with his team also visited the school to teach
the students effective and proper dental hygiene practice.
Bake & Sale Activity
The City School came in the local news when students of class 5 conducted a math activity with their teacher Ms . Mahwish and thereby raised funds. Which were donated to the Edhi Trust. The Efforts of the students were greatly appreciated by the representatives of the Edhi trust.

Purple Day celebration.
Purple Day was celebrated in the Junior School with a lot of excitement and fervour. Our lovely students came dressed as brinjals, flowers, grapes and in other purple coloured gear. It was fun to watch young students in an explosion of colour. Painting, origami, papier mache and fun with play dough, card making, mask cut outs ...all in the colour purple, were the highlights of the day
Teachers' Workshop.
The City School believes to an unvarying degree in training its teachers and equipping them with the latest educational techniques. Each month, an extensive teacher’s training session is held to coach the teaching staff at the school. Not only do these workshops help teachers learn new teaching methodology, but it provides them with a chance to assess and evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses and further improve their teaching skills.
Toyota Dream Car Contest.
The City School, RYK is proud to announce that Abia Rabbani of Class 5 won the first prize in the Toyota Dream Car Contest. Abia was contesting against hundreds of students in the Rahim Yar Khan area and now will go on to compete in the national level. Well done and best of luck Abia!! You make us proudOrange Colour Day.
Orange Colour Day was also celebrated with zest. Orange is a dynamic colour and stimulates imagination and creativity. Our little kids were dressed in shades of orange, shining brightly. The children learnt various other things about the orange colour which also symbolizes enthusiasm, hope and prosperity.
